My Vox friends and neighbors sure do love their free book downloads, so I thought I'd point out Yet Another Free Book Download I just came across - Jon Armstrong's Grey. Scroll down to the bottom of the page for a link to the download. Now I have a bunch of these I need to read!

Excellent. I've been making my way through the Tor downloads, and there is some good stuff in there. I've particularly enjoyed "Old Man's War" and am avidly reading "Outstretched Shadow". Their gambit to draw me in by offering the first book of the trilogy may be working, I am now contemplating buying each and the remainder of their series for my personal library.

I actually read OMW from the library. I thought it was okay, but lighter than anticipated.

Haven't made my way through any of the other ones:-(

It definitely wasn't as thought-provoking as one of its sources of inspiration (Starship Troopers), but I enjoyed the writing style and the exploration of the main concept. I'm assuming the 2nd and 3rd books in the trilogy get into a little more of the ramifications of the technology behind the old people's army.

Have you read any Haldeman (e.g. The Forever War)? I enjoyed that more than I did OMW.

Also, have you read "Butcher Bird" (A.K.A. "Blind Shrike")? Another free ebook download, if you hadn't heard about it. Not sure if you'll like it, but I enjoyed that one as well.
